Bathroom Makeover

We’ve lived in our house for about five years now.  Pretty much every part of the home has seen a transformation, all except one room…the main floor bathroom.  I’m not sure why, especially when it’s the place that almost every visitor sees.

Here are pictures of the bathroom before we moved into the house…

When we moved in, I put up an old shower curtain that I had from the other house.  Gregg put some bead board on the cabinet doors and painted the counter white (we put in a new toilet too).  Big improvement, but still far from what I wanted.

I’m not sure why, but I really struggled with what I wanted to do with this little bathroom.  Every time I thought I had the right ideas for it, I’d change my mind.  I’ve been really loving the color red lately, and have been bringing it into other areas of the house.  Well, I took the plunge, and here is the “reveal”…

I made the shower curtain with a sweet vintage looking fabric that I fell in love with.  This was my inspiration for the rest of the room.  The tub behind it is still yellow, but it's not a tub and shower that anyone uses, so it doesn't really show ;)

This is a watercolor painting that I did a few weeks ago to match the room.

Gregg and I bought this dry sink at an antique store on one of our outings.

Gregg made the red shelf…perfect!

Look at these lovely old embroidered pictures!  I found them on Etsy for a great price.

Some detail of the embroidery.  Love the hollyhocks!

Another Etsy find…this charming little guest towel (I hope nobody actually uses it :)

So, that’s it.  I am really happy with how it turned out.  I can’t believe it took us five years to do it!

Until Next Time…

  2. I love how this came together! What beautiful colors. I haven't embroidered in a long time, makes me have the itch to do it again. It's a lovely project.

    1. Thank you Lindy! I also used to do embroidery, and I keep thinking that I should give it a try again too.
